Jesus said, “The Light will be with you for only a little longer. Go on your way while you still have the light, so that the darkness will not overtake you.”(Jn12:35) Jesus said this at the end of his ministry. He would not teach them any more. They had been taught all they needed to accept the light and the truth of his teaching, to make a choice to believe in Jesus or not, to follow him or to walk away. He urged them all to follow the light.
While he had finished teaching, Jesus still had to accept his passion and then rise from the dead. Once we have heard the teaching of Jesus, and chosen the light of the Truth, then we must see that that truth leads us to accept the passion with Jesus. We, the Church, must take up our cross and follow him. This is the only way to the glory that Jesus promised us.
The darkness is all around us. So many have rejected the teaching of Jesus, either explicitly by their words, or implicitly by their actions. We must stay firm in our faith, unwavering in our hope and constant in our love. This is how we show to the world the enduring power and love of our Heavenly Father. Remain strong in your faith.
