Rule 4 — Build Community: We here at Holy Family Parish are blessed to have an amazing sense of community! We share so much together and there is always something wonderful going on. This year while walking on a dirt road in Vermont, a few of us were given the gift of seeing how that sense of community and family can be shared with others. We happened upon a house with a statue of our Blessed Mother in the window. The door to the home opened and a woman called out to offer us an ice cold drink. She and her husband welcomed a group of 5 strangers into their beautiful, and may I add air conditioned, home! We had the chance to refresh and use the bathroom. In conversation, we discovered that the homeowners are parishioners of St. Michael’s Church in Brattleboro, VT. The very church that our pilgrimage had started from! They had read about our pilgrimage in their bulletin. The wonderful couple said that while they may not be able to walk with us, they can offer us a cold drink and break from the heat. We of course were beyond grateful but more importantly, we left there with the reinforced knowledge that Jesus is truly walking beside us always, and that He shows us His love every day in so many ways, and through so many people. God Bless the Dadik family for sharing Christ’s love with five strangers on a very hot Vermont afternoon!
